Principal's Welcome
Ba mhaith liom fáilte a chur romhat chuig suíomh gréasáin Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Mhuire, Meathas Troim.
I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the children, the staff and the Board of Management of St Mary's N.S., to extend a ‘Céad Míle Fáilte’ to our school via our website. I certainly hope that you find it helpful and informative.
I am honoured and privileged to be the Principal of St Mary’s National School. I am incredibly fortunate to be able to work with the children of our school in this capacity. I’ve worked closely alongside the staff for many years and know how committed and professional they are. Since I started teaching, my focus has always been on the child. As Principal, my focus is no different and I know that this is shared amongst my colleagues.
The development of the children is a shared responsibility. Parents are our children’s primary educators. Our work here is enhanced with their support, which is invaluable and crucial in helping us to do our job. The staff of our school are committed to the development of each child. They will always endeavour to help each child reach their potential in an environment that is conducive to learning by establishing relationships that are based on Christian values particularly compassion, respect and trust.
Alongside catering for each child academically, we are guided by our school motto ‘Oideas don Saol – Education for Life’. We aim to provide an education that is holistic in its approach by focussing on the kinaesthetic, interpersonal, linguistic, mathematical, naturalistic, intrapersonal, musical and visual education of each child. We want our children to be body, people, word, logic, nature, self, music and picture smart.
The safeguarding, well-being and welfare of the children in our care is paramount. We will always endeavour to keep our children safe. All staff and our Board of Management are aware of their responsibility in relation to child safeguarding measures.
Here in St Mary’s N.S., we have terrific facilities and a fantastic school building, however, a building does not make a school fantastic. It’s the people who make up the school community - the children, the parents, the staff and the Board of Management that make, and will continue to make, our school fantastic. Together, we share that responsibility.
We value our children and we will strive to ensure that they are happy while they are in our school each day. Together with the staff, I look forward to working with the children on their journey here in St Mary's. We truly hope each child’s experience will be happy and productive, as we help them to reach their potential both academically and personally.
Is mise le meas,
Alan Conroy
